Print Specialist - Packaging Development - Reporting to Print & Artwork Manager

Working as part of the UK packaging development team in Market Drayton. Supporting all UK sites and at Group level, providing print technical expertise and specialist advice for branded and own label products. Facilitating any necessary communication between Muller and it's suppliers and stakeholders during the artwork and repro approval stages. Being a first point of contact for other members of the wider print & Packaging Team for specialist print, artwork & repro advice.

Key Responsibilities

Developing processes and procedures for supporting the packaging artwork & print processes within the business
Train and mentor internal teams on print and artwork limitations
Key contact with suppliers for print technical queries; quality issues relating to print and managing solutions
Having a thorough working knowledge of artwork build, separations and repro for packaging across a variety of substrates and processes; ideally to include flexo & gravure print for packaging
Being an administrator on our internal artwork lifecycle management system, administrating projects; workflows & users
Managing Print profiles on the GMG; ensuring all are current and relevant
Managing the GMG proofing equipment; re-ordering suppliers and organising maintenance
Managing the X-rite spectrometers; facilitating calibration and maintenance
Measuring draw downs and packaging samples against the Muller colour Management policy
Maintaining knowledge levels of print, design and repro trends and technologies and looking to the future
Pro-actively offering refinement advise for designs and artwork going through the approvals process where appropriate
Actively looking to streamline designs; simplify and reduce colours where possible to activate cost optimisation opportunities
Communication and negotiation regarding print/substrate limitations
Supporting pre-production meetings for key launches/design changes

Professional Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualification in Design, Graphics, Print or similar
3-5 years experience working in repro or artwork production environment
3-5 years experience working in a fast production studio or within the packaging print industry

12-18 month contract
Working in Market Drayton mainly; but some travel to other sites.
