Technical Data Analyst - MDM - Insurance

£35-40,000 with excellent bonus & benefits, inc. commute paid for, to the value of £3000

Birmingham - City

Urgent requirement for a credible Technical Data Analyst for a leading independent and privately owned Commercial Underwriter, whom operate in the Lloyd's of London insurance market.

Applicants will be tasked with driving exceptional outcomes for Data Quality, MDM and Meta-Data Management. This individual will work as the technical data analyst to implement data governance processes & workflow and support the on-going maintenance of the data governance tool set. The individual will work in close collaboration with Data Management, the IT team and our outsource providers, to analyse and trend the data, understand root-cause issues and support the on-going remediation process.

Key Responsibilities:

- Configure and deploy our Data Governance toolset including MDM, Data profiling and data catalogue.
- Contribute to the compilation of the Business Glossary / Data Directory.
- Implement business rules/quality criteria into our Data Quality platform, including workflow and adoption by the data owners
- Profile data, identify exceptions and actively support the remediation process. Work to ensure the firm's data, master data and meta data (business terms, definitions and quality/validation criteria) is up-to-date and endorsed by appropriate subject matter experts and owners.
- Support the embedding of the Data Governance Framework.
- Support the expansion in the scope and usage of the MDM, including the implementation of additional requirements, data domains and reference data.
- Act as an ambassador to the business for Data Quality and Data Governance.
- To work as one team with Data Management, IT and our outsource providers.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required by the Data Management team.

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science /Information Systems/Engineering or a technical related field

Skills and Abilities

- Excellent analytical and technical skills
- Ability to quickly understand data structures and relationships
- Proficiency in configuring and deploying data governance tools in one or more of the following: data profiling, MDM, data catalogue and business glossary
- Advanced SQL skills
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access
- Ability to understand the concept of data domains in the context of MDM
- Strong understanding of data architecture and programming/scripting principles
- Team worker as well as able to work on own initiative
- Aptitude and Disposition
- Self starter
- Professional approach to successfully interact with managers/colleagues/outsource providers/external suppliers

Knowledge and Experience

- Experienced in configuring data quality and master data management tools
- Experienced in managing and manipulating data
- Understands the challenges around ensuring the quality of data in companies
- Experience of creating data visualisations or infographics would be advantageous
- Experience in integrating third party data e.g. D&B is desirable
