We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Leader in our Engineering, Process and Services department based at our Market Drayton site. This role will ensure the delivery of key targets and plans, to achieve optimum productivity via the co-ordination and prioritisation of resources in the numerous business areas. Working closely with Manufacturing Team Leaders to deliver shared targets, supporting SAP initiatives throughout the Engineering Maintenance departments.

Your challenge

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

* Co-ordination of resource to ensure delivery of engineering priorities and delivery of SAP requirements.
* Reporting on daily issues and recommending corrective actions within "ICE" & other associated meetings as required.
* Co-ordinating equipment inspections to ensure conformity with Health and Safety legislation and issuing updated documentary evidence.
* Reporting on daily issues and recommending corrective actions within ICE meetings as required.
* Contribution to the Weekly Planning and Master Scheduling meeting.
* Cascading monthly team briefings to direct reports.
* Managing holiday requests and subsequent resource planning.
* Accountability for the maintenance of appropriate Short Interval Control Boards.
* Participation in future continuous improvement, SAP initiatives and activities.
* To comply with all aspects of Maintenance Best Practice in all relevant areas.
* Co-ordination and delivery of Quality Critical PM.
* Ensuring the adoption of safe working practices.
* Acting as a Champion for instilling high levels of personal safety awareness amongst engineering employees, striving for changes in systems and procedures to ensure full compliance with safety, health, quality and environmental standards/measures.
* Proactive approach to all matters concerning Health and Safety.
* To take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of themselves and others.
* Cooperate with employer in assisting them to fulfil their statutory duties.
* To use all company equipment for the purpose it was intended and in accordance with Health and Safety procedures.
* Delivery of daily, weekly, monthly departmental targets, plans and initiatives.
* Support productivity, efficiency, and downtime improvement and waste reduction targets.
* Support the achievement of Maintenance expenditure targets.
* Liaison with various departmental Manufacturing Team Leaders, Technical Operators, Production Managers, Engineering Managers and Shift Technicians to clarify and implement any corrective actions that are identified in the production and engineering log books.
* Liaising with Manufacturing Team Leaders on a daily basis to understand and prioritise the production plan 'v' actual.
* Co-ordination of in-house and third party resource as necessary.
* Cascading monthly team briefings to direct reports.
* Assist Manager in managing holiday requests and subsequent resource planning.
* Completion of PDP's (personal development plans) for all direct reports and manage disciplinary issues in line with Company policies and procedures.
* Input into and support Training Needs Analysis and subsequent training/development solutions.
* Responsible person for BA use in the event of an ammonia leak or chemical spillage.
* Be responsible for all engineering issues within several large varied production areas, including Yogurt, Fruit and Butter facilities.
* Be responsible for dealing with automation issues as a first point of call, with understanding of Dox10, S5, S7 and in-touch.
* Be responsible for isolating plant and writing permits to work for a wide variety of staff and contractors.
* Be responsible for factory vital services, including steam raising and distribution refrigeration, compressed air, electrical supply (HV and LV) water systems and effluent.
* Be responsible for the site services work after 15:00every day, every night and weekend.

Key skills & experience:

* An approved Engineering Apprenticeship.
* ONC/HNC level in an Engineering discipline is desirable
* In-depth knowledge of engineering standards
* Understanding of continuous improvement philosophies.
* Project Management knowledge.
* Experience in managing a team.
* Working knowledge of food manufacturing processes & associated electrical/mechanical equipment.
* Influencing and communication skills.
* Teamwork and collaboration skills.
* Able to drive business results.
