The successful candidate will be involved in the development and improvement of antibody/protein reagents and analytical systems for our portfolio and pipeline products. The main responsibilities are to perform laboratory experiments as directed by the Project Leader and to record data in compliance with the company quality policy. Working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, the successful candidate will be expected to make scientific and intellectual contributions to project development.

The main duties of the role are:

• To perform new product feasibility studies, including the design and testing of novel reagents and protocols.

• To validate new procedures and materials up to the point of technology transfer to other departments.

• To assess new materials and laboratory equipment and give feedback on their suitability for use.

• To perform scientific calculations, including molar and unit conversions, reaction kinetics, purity assessments and clinical statistical analyses.

• To develop technical expertise in a broad spectrum of disciplines including (but not limited to): protein/antibody purification and analysis, automated preparative and analytical systems and immunoassay (multiple formats).

• To carry out design changes to existing products or processes and assist in the investigation of complaints.

• To generate clear and accurate experimental records and present findings in project and departmental meetings.

Knowledge and Skills


• Degree in Biochemistry or related discipline.

• Experience of protein and biochemical analyses.

• Hands-on laboratory experience gained during degree projects, placements or post-graduation employment.

• Passionate about biochemical/analytical sciences with a desire to work in a dynamic research environment.


• Previous industrial experience in healthcare or medical diagnostics sector.

• Working knowledge of protein purification (including chromatography systems) and/or bioconjugation.

• Experience of technology development.

• Masters degree in Biochemistry or protein sciences.
