Title: Specialist Engineer

Contract Position based at: Warwick University
Technical lead in technology projects for deployment into autonomous systems.
Design, specification and development of functional blocks for autonomous systems.
Collaboration with suppliers of state-of-the-art software.
Real-time systems engineers with 3 years' minimum experience based at supplier or vehicle manufacture.
Document and report project status project status meetings.
Working knowledge of software engineering processes, system engineering processes and software architectural design.
3 Key Skills:
1) Technical Knowledge (theory and application) of real-time control systems design and development and systems modelling using Matlab Simulink.
2) An understanding of the issues relating to the use of these technologies within the vehicle is essential as well as experience in specifying and developing technical proposals from initial concept to final product.
3) Good project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as the ability to produce clear technical documentation is also required.
Educated to degree level or higher in a related discipline Electronics / Mechanical / Electrical Control Systems.
Experience of working in the automotive industry tier1 or tier2 supplier in either a research or advanced product development environment is essential.
3-5 years practical automotive experience.
1-2 years experience in developing design & applying Matlab Simulink Models.
Strong technical Interest in applied automotive controls & autonomous driving.
Proven experience in developing and evaluating vehicle control systems.
Experience in writing engineering requirements (DOORS).
Ability to support technical proposal when challenged.
Capable of working within agreed engineering time scales & deadlines.
Hold a valid UK driving licence.
Self-motivated engineer with good inter-personal, communication and networking skills.
Capable of working both within a team and as an individual.
Proven project and time management skills and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision.
Ability to self-manage his or her delivery requirements to deadlines while identifying issues before they arise.
An ability to work with academic researchers to both inform and motivate them to develop the game-changing technology required to move forward the Autonomous Vehicle functionality of JLR future features.
Confident presentation & report-writing skills; competent use of Google and MS Office.
Familiarity with automotive sector, products, features and autonomous technology. Knowledge of SAE and Bast Levels as applied to ADAS systems, experience of applying design FMEA's. Computer literate, enthusiastic, forward looking, lateral thinker with proven creative, research and innovation skills in the field of technology.
Team player with strong technical and communication skills.
