Accounts Assistant - Valuations & Probates - £20,000 to £27,000 per annum + Benefits


Gleeson Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for market Leading Business based in Birmingham who are looking to appoint a new Accounts Assistant - Valuations & Probates to the team on a permanent basis


The ideal candidate will be studying ATT, come from a Financial Services background with working knowledge of Book Cost and Capital Gains Tax.


AAT studiers and Finance Graduates will also be considered



Brief Description of Role:


Valuations and Probates with support, when required, for E-banking. To ensure that all operational and reporting aspects of the department are processed properly within agreed time-frames for each transaction and reporting type and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Report all material facts, including exceptions to the line manager.



Duties / responsibilities:

  • Preparation, review and dispatch of periodic reports sent to HA discretionary and non-discretionary clients to ensure that all aspects of client reporting are correct by performing detailed checks on a sample of reports. This includes:
    • Valuations
    • Probate Valuations including Quarter up valuations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies which includes analysis on unexpected performance variances.
  • Review management reports/client valuations produced for accuracy & completeness.
  • Communicate with other departments and CRO teams as appropriate to resolve issues arising.
  • Provide basic cover for CGT reporting.
  • Ensure line manager is appraised of all relevant issues and progress on a timely basis.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation produced for own areas of responsibility are complete, current and written in accordance with company standards.
  • To adhere to, and maintain knowledge of, all applicable legislation, including relevant parts of the company compliance manual and FCA Handbook.
  • Perform such other duties as the Firm may request from time to time in accordance with the Contract of Employment.


Required qualifications:

  • Appropriate professional / regulatory qualification
  • AAT or Degree level


Additionally, all staff are expected to:

  • Keep their knowledge up-to-date regarding market and regulatory developments, as appropriate to their role.
  • Treat customers fairly and act in their best interest offering a transparent, efficient and professional service.
  • Ensure line manager is appraised of all relevant issues and progress on a timely basis.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation produced for own areas of responsibility are complete.
