The Company

A well-established privately owned Contractor based in the West Midlands who operate within the Commercial, Industrial and Retail sectors, undertaking general building works which range from refurbishments to small builds.

The contractor originally started out many years ago within the maintenance sector, and have since built a Building Contracting division to the business. Given their background in maintenance, the commercial responsibilities of projects have generally been with the Contracts Managers, however they understand that this same setup cannot carry over into the building contracting division.

Therefore, as part of their growth plans, they are looking to take on a Quantity surveyor who can initially provide commercial support on projects, and longer term, be the person to head up and build a commercial team under them.

Job Description

As Quantity Surveyor, you will have commercial responsibility for projects, working alongside Contracts Managers to ensure a profitable delivery.

Responsibilities include:

- Management of all costs related to projects.
- Preparation of tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Value management and cost control.
- Prepare and analyse costings for tenders.
- Work alongside the Contracts manager to ensure effective and profitable delivery of projects.

Longer term, there will be the opportunity to build a commercial team underneath you and essentially be the commercial lead for the company.
