Quality Assurance Engineer

My client, leading manufacturer in its field are looking to recruit an experienced "hands-on" all round Quality Engineer to join their team.

The successful candidate will have varied industry experience (including non-Automotive)

Purpose of Role:

Supporting the production quality function, you will be a skilled Quality Engineer with experience of Auditing, Hands-On Quality Activities, Implementing Quality Systems, Customer & Supplier Management, Quality Inspection.

Reporting to the Quality Manager you will contribute to the maintenance of Quality Standards at all stages of the production process and take lead in various Quality Processes & Procedures to ensure 100% compliance and customer satisfaction.

The Successful Candidate will have:

* Demonstrable experience as a hands on Quality Engineer in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment (outside of Automotive)

* Experience with castings or similar
* Support full internal audits to ISO9001
* Customer & Supplier facing experience
* Problem solving tools managing containment & non compliance
* Conversant with the tools of quality engineering including PPAP, FMEA, PDCA and 8D activity.

* Familiar with Auditing Procedures
* Sound working knowledge and understanding of Quality standards
* Detailed knowledge and understanding of inspection & metrology
* Problem Solving Techniques / Methodology
* Able to read, interpret and understand Engineering information
* Continuous Improvement and 5s mind set


* Perform product or process troubleshooting as necessary
* Run NCN system and ensure maintenance of the system.
* Raise 8Ds on for any non-conformances and ensure effective & timely closure.
* Carry out in house containment activities, manage quarantine and logs accordingly
* Communicate with supply base and ensure compliance to customer requirements
* Carry out sample inspection on goods in
* Preparation in carrying out Internal Audits / Supplier Audits
* Lead in the analysis and disposition of non-conforming material. Work using a PDCA structure identifying root cause & implement/verify corrective actions.
* Set up a standard work routine to align to preventative as opposed to reactive actions.
* Observe & analyse current methods, processes and make recommendations to improve process/product quality and cost reduction.
* Using input from field data/customers and internal non-conforming material as well as other pertinent sources regarding product quality, develop and implement plans to control and monitor quality improvements.
* Liaise with all suppliers and customers building strong key relationships.
* Draft, advise and implement quality standards, process and procedures throughout the organisation ensuring quality improvements
* Contribute and advise on calibration, tolerances and test parameters.
* Manage inspection and testing methods and procedures
* Prepare quality reports & proposals providing recommendations wherever necessary
* Impart and establish external quality systems/checks prior to delivery
* Implement Continuous Improvements through setting KPI's and data management
