Role: Senior Project Manager – Software
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £70,000

A rapidly growing software company are seeking a heavyweight senior level Project Manager, to undertake a role at their head office in Birmingham which offers easy access routes via various major motorway routes. You will be responsible for company critical projects of the highest importance and will be required to adapt quickly to a hard working environment.

It is essential that you have the following:

* Solid Project Management experience with on web based applications
* 5-10 years experience of working within the financial industry (preferably computer software)
* A background working permanent roles.
* You will also have experience on project managing a web deposits project
* Excellent written and interpersonal skills
* Have client facing experience and be able to work at board level.
* Is prepared to travel to London on a regular basis.

The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the success and profitability of projects.

The project manager leads and manages major projects/portfolios, through the full project life cycle:

- Support the Bid Process

- Create estimates for effort, schedule, and financials
- Capture initial risks in the risk log
- Provide input to the Bid Review and Approval

- Transition to Delivery

- Ensure all required bid phase knowledge is made available for project initiation (e.g. scope, financials, schedule, risks)
- Review estimates and financials
- Ensure the required project resources have been allocated to the project

- Project Startup

- Ensure projects are set up to be successful

- Prepare the Project Initiation Document and get formal Client sign-off to ensure there is a joint understanding over what the project will deliver and how ( scope, project approach, schedule, deliverables and acceptance criteria, governance model, initial risks, billing milestones)

- Set project baseline (scope, schedule, financials)

- Project Delivery

- Ensure the project delivers against the project baseline, and achieves the expected level of margin
- Support the project team to enable them to deliver projects successfully
- Manage and resolve dependencies between projects
- Monitor and control project activities
- Identify issues early and ensure effective and timely corrective action is taken
- Take ownership for resolving project issues and escalations
- Ensure project stakeholders are kept informed and there are no surprises

- Ensure the Governance model is followed

- Ensure weekly project status reporting is completed weekly and gives a true representation of the project. Where applicable, ensure project reports are prepared jointly with the Client
- Ensure all changes to the project baseline follow the change management process and that changes contribute to the margin of the project
- Perform effective risk management

- Get formal Client acceptance for deliverables
- Ensure Clients are invoice in accordance with the billing milestones
- Track invoice payments and escalate late payments

- Project Closure

- Obtain formal project sign-off from Clients
- Ensure projects are formally transitioned to Support
- Lessons learned are performed and identified actions completed to improve the performance of future projects

- Project Management Practice

- Build strong relationships with Clients, to enable us to become a trusted partner
- Contribute to the Project Management practices by contributing to improvements in processes, methods and tools
- Lead knowledge creation, sharing and coaching
- Ensure processes are followed and auditable

Exposure to Agile will be beneficial as we uses Agile techniques.

All Project Managers are expected to be certified in Prince2 or PMP
