A Lead Engineer Electrical is required to join and Innovative Military Vehicle manufacturing facility on a Permanent Basis. The Lead Engineer Electrical will be responsible for supporting the Electrical Systems Engineering Manager. The Lead Engineer will manage project delivery teams, customer relationships and provide mentoring to your direct reports. The Lead Engineer Electrical will be a subject matter expert in electrical and electronic system integration.

The Lead Engineer should have a proven history in leading design, and development of technical programmes, preferably in a Defence, Automotive or Special Off-Highway Vehicles environment. You will be involved in engineering activities that cover the full product life cycle from initial concept generation through to engineering sign off, production support and post design services.

Responsibilities and Experience Required of the Lead Engineer Electrical

  • Lead engineering project delivery teams for specific packages of work
  • Manage and provide mentoring to your direct reports
  • Provide project status reports to senior management and customers
  • Provide technical expertise in Electrical Systems Integration
  • Presentation material generation and delivery to senior management and customers
  • Oversee the preparation of harness drawings and circuit schematics
  • Analysis of electrical and electronic architecture requirements
  • Produce system and component level requirements specification documents
  • Engage in systems specific design reviews, problem resolution and root cause analysis
  • Carry out viability assessments of competing technologies and systems
  • Produce accurate, high quality engineering reports
  • Provide support to production manufacturing activities
  • Support vehicle trials and exhibitions as and when required - both in the UK and abroad

Qualifications & Requirements of the Lead Engineer Electrical

  • Good knowledge and understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems
  • Previous experience of electrical system integration
  • Experience of CAN bus system interrogation, system diagnostics and testing
  • Understanding of EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements
  • Exposure to mechanical as well as electrical design
  • Knowledge of Defence Standards
  • Have previously been involved in bid development and technical proposal generation
  • Able to analyse system requirements and propose appropriate engineering solutions
  • Have a proven track record of technical project delivery, preferably in military vehicles
  • Ability to learn, understand and work with new complex systems in short time periods
  • Can demonstrate a structured approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging technologies in the areas of Vetronic systems
  • Experience of dealing with external customers, managing expectations and relationships
  • Experience of working PTC Windchill or other Product Life-cycle Management tools
  • Must hold a full driving licence and be insured for Business Travel

**The Lead Engineer Electrical must hold or capable of holding Security Clearance up to level of SC and Willing to travel within the UK and overseas**
