Senior Design Engineer opportunity working for one of the best known vehicle manufacturers in the world.

We have an excellent opportunity for a mechanical design Engineer to join a world leader in the world of off-highway and construction vehicles. Ideally, you will be a degree qualified Engineer and have relevant design experience at a Senior or Lead level and have a good understanding of vehicle design or similar heavy duty machinery, plant or other similar equipment.

Senior Design Engineer role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Principal Engineer you will be responsible for the design of a range of components and systems using Siemens Unigraphics NX and TeamCenter.
You will release engineering data and other Engineering documentation as well as:
Investigation and problem solving.
Co-ordination with other functional areas: Assembly, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Materials.
Liaison with suppliers on component specification and fit for purpose - checking design meets the brief and internal and external legislative requirements and documenting compliance where necessary.

About You:

You will have some level of recognised technical qualification relevant to the role. A degree in a relevant discipline would be preferred but other qualifications would be considered with appropriate experience.

You will have broad experience of mechanical design, ideally with 'yellow goods' or automotive, rail, commercial or military vehicles or similar heavy equipment.

You will have proven experience of working in a similar, Senior Design role within a similar off-highway/Commercial vehicle environment.
You must be literate, numerate and articulate, able to take direction and work as part of a small team.
You will have interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate and work with people outside the engineering functional area and with external suppliers.
You will need a sense of urgency, the ability to take ownership of assigned work and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
