The ideal Quality Engineer will have the opportunity to work for a well-established, world renowned supplier of metal components within the automotive, aerospace, marine and oil and gas industries. It is a traditional forging company based in the heart of the West Midlands and they pride themselves on the cleanliness of the site given the nature of the industry.


The Quality Engineer will work to strict requirements of the Business Operating System preparing raw material for sampling of new products and solving any issues arising with the Production Manager.

Within this the Quality Engineer will:

- Resolve any tooling issues arising from sampling products.
- Develop a Method of Manufacture for new sample parts with hammer crews, cost and commercial awareness in mind.
- Update in-house systems with the Method of Manufacture and sample approval sheets.
- Inspect and pass of new sample parts.
- Generate ISIR and PPAP documentation for customer approval.

The Quality Engineer will also have an element of inspection as part of their role including:

- Identify & segregate non-conforming product.
- First off, in process & final inspection, both in the press room and in the forge.
- Inspect samples of bought out forged / machined components.
- Prepare & issue gauges for forge and press shop.
- Cast / batch control.
- Record route queries or issues on the contract review sheet.
- Generate and monitor rework operations.
- Maintain customer non-conformances, supplier non-conformances and concessions.
- Investigate root cause and determine corrective / preventative actions.

Further duties of the Quality Engineer include:

- Audits, environmental inspections, H&S inspections and risk assessments.
- Internal calibration.
- Maintain COSHH data sheets, and projects to achieve business objectives & KPIs.


The successful Quality Engineer will be responsible for the sample approval process from start to finish and will have experience in doing so.

Have experience in achieving KPIs, cost reduction and reduce customer returns.

Have experience in monitoring downtime and waste / scrap reduction.

The ideal Quality Engineer will enjoy a challenge working in a fast paced environment and always willing to learn new elements to the position and work involved.

- Have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a quality engineer.
- Have the willingness and ability to challenge the process in order to improve.
- Have Metrology experience.
- To be able to demonstrate continuous improvement and team problem solving experience.
- To demonstrate 5C (5S) experience or knowledge.
