LM Overview

Two of Europe's most prominent and innovative engineering and construction companies - Laing O'Rourke and Murphy - have come together to form LM, a powerful joint venture, supporting the growing number of major transport infrastructure projects across the UK.

Both organisations are market leaders in high-speed rail delivery, tunnelling, bridge construction, civil engineering, offsite manufacturing and digital engineering.

LM, along with Fusion JV and CS JV, have been awarded the enabling works for High Speed Two. Delivering the essential early works will include archaeology, site clearance and setting up construction compounds - ahead of the start of the main civil engineering work.

The £900 million enabling works contracts cover the whole of Phase One, from London to Birmingham and the connection to the West Coast Main line at Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Main purpose of role:

To support the procurement team with the procurement of specific packages within the work package strategy in line with LM's value for money approach.

Key responsibilities and duties:

Specific Responsibilities

- Support the team in issuing Prequalification and Invitation to Tender documents, in various IT platforms.
- Administer the project supplier database and supplier communications on behalf of the procurement team.
- Support the analysis of tenders received from the supply market ensuring potential problems and/or gains are recognised and the departments react accordingly
- Continually develop negotiation skill
- Follow an ethical and consistent approach to the procurement of goods and services
- Support Procurement Managers with reporting on procurement costs against work package budget
- Support with the issue and execution of sub contract documents
- Support with the selection of subcontractors and suppliers
- Maintain working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
- Support the LM team through active participation in work package review meetings
- Work closely with procurement manager to develop procurement knowledge and skill
- Fully support the LM procurement strategy
