Senior Hydraulics Engineer

Stourbridge, West Midlands

£35,000 per annum

Permanent position

An expanding Engineering & Manufacturing Business based near Stourbridge in the West Midlands, are currently looking for an experienced and hands-on Hydraulics Engineering Supervisor to run the day to day shop-floor activities within a manufacturing projects environment.

Designing and building unique and specialised equipment to support the next generation of materials and component testing. The Company offers a complete end-to-end service for the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke hydraulic systems, with in-house mechanical, electronics, and software design, manufacturing and testing capabilities.

Reporting into the Operations Manager, working hours are 7.30am - 4.30pm (Monday to Thursday) & 7.30am to 1.30pm (on Fridays).

Responsibilities will include:

· Managing the planning, scheduling & manufacture of bespoke machinery to the agreed customer delivery dates

· Showing excellent mechanical skills and understanding to assist with production issues

· Resolving technical issues and constraints

· Providing man-management skills in order to co-ordinate shop-floor activities

· Delegating co-ordination duties to 2x Production Engineers, a Driver and a Goods-In Administrator

· Show self-motivation and drive and be able to work well within a small team

· Provide reliability and commitment to help the Company stand out from its competitors globally

· Supporting the 3-year Business Plan to double the size of the Company

Experience required:

· A high level of practical experience within hydraulics, especially for the build of bespoke servo-hydraulic based mechanical machinery and systems

· Be able to work with the other Managers contributing to shop-floor output (i.e. software development, electronics design & production and mechanical design)

· Providing technical support to suppliers and customers

· In depth knowledge of hydraulic systems / circuits / components

· Ability to specify, install and test pipe-work and hoses

· Ability to assemble and test hydraulic circuits, actuators and manifolds

· Ability to fault find and correct hydraulic systems

· Measurement, specification and fitting of hydraulic seals

· Reading and understanding 3D models of mechanical assemblies and determining Operation of general workshop equipment

· People management experience

· Project management experience

· Ability to interpret electrical/electronic wiring schematics

· Experience of hydraulic testing rigs / machinery

· Familiar with a company offering bespoke/varied products

Personal characteristics required:

· Effective communicator within the Company and with external customers and suppliers

· Polite and well presented with all staff, customers and suppliers regardless of role or level

· Management of Quality Systems and Continuous Improvement Activities
