Distribution Manager - Birmingham

Oliver William Recruitment are looking for a Distribution Manager to join an international manufacturing company based in Birmingham.

Our client is an international manufacturing company working within the DIY industry and they are looking for a Distribution Manager to plan storage and distribution of customer orders from receipt to delivery whilst ensuring the most cost effective and suitable transport route. The overall job will be to ensure the Distribution Centre operates efficiently, safely and at budgeted cost.

As a Distribution Manager, you must be able to communicate at all levels, including with major shareholders. Applicants must be persuasive, assertive, self-motivated and must have a proven track record within a logistics role.

As a Distribution Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and manage customer orders from receipt in the sales office to delivery at the customers required site by evaluation of customer needs and cost-effective transport.
  • Plan and manage day to day stock accuracy in conjunction with the DC stock controller.
  • Plan and monitor receipts from the factory and suppliers and ensure there is space to store product.
  • Plan and implement a manning structure in conjunction with the dc operations manager and ensure 24/7 operation in season and bank holiday cover and within budgeted efficiency targets.
  • Plan and manage daily and weekly output in line with budgets.
  • Process and monitor DC costs in conjunction with the company accountant.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot WMS systems in conjunction with I.T. to ensure continuous process.
  • Propose, implement and monitor improved ways of working.
  • Attend cross department management meetings to co-ordinate cross department issues.
  • Organise and monitor transport requirements in conjunction with the transport manager and international shipping administrator.
  • Co-ordinate shipments to the international sub-contract warehouses in Sweden, France, Spain and Holland.
  • Produce the annual international tender documentation.
  • Monitor transport performance with regular meetings and measurements.
  • Ensure supply of resources such as pallets, packaging etc.
  • Ensure building is maintained cost effectively and to a safe and high standard.
  • Follow up customer queries on delivery exceptions.
  • Support the director of logistics with development projects.
  • Support business continuity projects
  • Annually assess and refine FLT requirements
  • In conjunction with purchasing ensure all annual contracts are reviewed and renewed within budgeted costs.

This is a full-time, permanent position, between the hours of 8:30am - 4:45pm, and the company are looking to pay a salary of £40,000 per annum, with an excellent benefits package.
