Helpline Support Workers
West Mercia Women's Aid is the leading charity working with victims of domestic abuse in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, with over 30 years of service delivery and campaigning. We are recruiting for the following roles:-
Helpline Support Workers - Full/Part time considered. From £19,768 per annum (pro rata for part time)
Part of a dedicated team, you will provide listening support, safety planning, risk assessment and signposting to those who contact our Helpline Service during office hours. The role requires knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse issues and the needs of those affected by it; and a commitment to the values of empowerment and equality. In addition you will liaise with external agencies, and make referrals into other WMWA services.
Helpline Support Workers provide up to 4 sessions of out-of-hours on-call cover per month (evenings/weekends) for which an additional allowance is paid.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with vulnerable people providing emotional, practical and welfare support. You will have strong interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries.
