Our Client is part of a group comprising of seven UK based subsidiaries involved in the International transport and shipping industry. Based in Redditch they employ a team of 15 staff involved in sales, operations and accounts. With a Group turnover of £80 Million the business specialises in providing International transport solutions by air, road and sea to exporters and importers throughout the UK. Our clients range from sole traders through to multi-national Blue chip companies.

The Group is committed to the continued development of each of the seven subsidiaries with a strong emphasis on organic growth through new business development as well as maximising the existing accounts.

They now wish to recruit an operations coordinator to join their existing Operations Team. The jobholder will be required to participate in the day to day air and road freight operations and all of the related administration. To build relationships with the Existing clients and deliver a high standard of customer care at all times.

Duties of the role:

  • Managing the day to day export and import bookings of Worldwide air and European road freight shipments.
  • Raising job files and all of the appropriate paperwork.
  • Processing the jobs utilising the Fast Freight software system.
  • Customs entries using the NES System.
  • Extensive client liaison both written (email) and verbal (telephone).
  • Extensive supplier liaison and negotiation.
  • Internal liaison with the sales team assisting with quotations and service status information.
  • Invoicing jobs on completion.
Experience / skills required

  • Air and or Road freight operations experience, ideally with an export bias.
  • Customer service experience with the ability to build strong relations.
  • Experience of calculating freight quotations.
  • Negotiating skills to maximise gross profit.
  • Strong organisational and administration skills.
Good IT Skills

  • A positive and engaging personality.
  • Can do sales orientation.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Team player.
  • Confident communicator. (Written and verbal)
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure.
