Junior Technical Support Assistant

Job Summary

This junior role involves working with perimeter security products and hands-on use of electronic test and measurement equipment. Knowledge and use of electronic components and systems and the ability to fault-find on equipment down to component level would be an advantage.


To assist in the planning, set up and running of training courses both in Southwest Microwaves training facility and, where required, external training either on-site or at our partners' premises.

To prepare suitable equipment and resources for technical site visits including attendance at sites, as required.

To participate in the organization of equipment for trade shows, seminars, demonstrations and other events for presentations and use of Southwest Microwave's perimeter detection equipment. Attendance may also be required at these events.

Undertake the repair, modification and construction of electronic equipment and interfacing for perimeter detection systems.

Assist in an equipment store for stocking, loading and unloading, preparation and general stores duties.

Provide technical support, through the Technical Manager, for technical enquires from telephone, emails or face-to-face contacts.

To work with staff where required to ensure all areas are technically supported and maintained

To work with the Office Manager to assist them with general office administration as and when required and to work on forecasting and sales administration

Key Requirements

To have a basic understanding of electronic principals and

Experience of practical electronic or/and electrical techniques.

Strong IT skills including Microsoft office skills: Word; Excel; PowerPoint, SOP,CRM

Strong organizational skills

Awareness of relevant Health & Safety legislation

Valid Passport, Drivers License and freedom to travel within Europe when and where required

Person Specification

The person will be an energetic, proactive and competent technical assistant who can demonstrate the energy and flair combined with maturity required to join the Technical team at the Southwest Microwave European Office.

This is mainly an office based position and therefore the candidate will likely reside in the Worcestershire or neighbouring Gloucestershire Counties, however, travel will be required for assistance with site support visits, exhibitions and seminars within the UK, Europe and also with the possibility for some Middle Eastern travel.

Salary Band: £17,000 to £19,000 depending on age and experience
