University Note Taker(s)/Academic Support Worker(s) Required - Worcester

About us:

Cosmic People currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Manual Note Taker* Academic Support Worker*in the Worcester area.

Cosmic People are an 'Investors in People’ accredited company, who pride ourselves in providing excellent NMH (Non-Medical Helper) support to students with disabilities in Higher Education.

About the role:

As an academic support worker, you will be based on a vibrant university campus attending lectures on a variety of subjects, producing written or typed lecture notes for students and working alongside them assisting with other elements of their academic support including:-

  • Note Taking
  • Library Assistance
  • Practical Support
  • Study Assistance
  • Workshop/ Laboratory support

The role is term time only and provides regular weekly hours.

This role will suit someone looking for either part time or full time work during term time and we require a minimum of two full day’s availability per week.

The role will start at the end of September 2017.

Training and on-going support are provided: Cosmic People are a CPD accredited company and you will have the opportunity to achieve CPD accreditation in a variety of training areas relevant to your role.

The successful applicant will be:

  • A recent graduate, a graduate or post-graduate.
  • Have the ability to write fast and accurately.
  • Be able to recognise and capture the main points of a lecture and write them simultaneously whilst listening to the speaker.
  • Be reliable, punctual and resilient.
  • Be able to work flexibly.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, diplomacy and empathy to others.
  • Be able to work on your own autonomy and use your initiative.
  • Have a good knowledge of English to include good spelling and grammar.
  • Have a genuine desire to make a difference and help others.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.

(Please note this role does require you to have an enhanced DBS)

Term time and flexible.
