Main purpose of the role

The main purpose of the Retailer Systems Test Analyst role is to devise and implement a strategic test plan which encompasses testing at all levels, through all environments. The aim of the testing is to ensure each release is ready for launch to all markets.

The Test Analyst is part of the Jaguar Land Rover Global Retail Operations (GRO) team. The Test Analyst will coordinate the efforts of the functional testing team within GRO, working closely with the Lead Tester; and also coordinate with the client team to organise their review periods and obtain sign-off from all stakeholders. They will provide technical support and advice to the project and BAU teams.

The Test Analyst will also be responsible for coordinating the small number of suppliers and partner organisations who are involved in the delivery of each release.

Candidate Responsibilities

- Work as required with existing system experts to understand system functionality
- Create a stakeholder engagement plan, ensuring that key stakeholders are identified and engaged
- Understand the requirements that have given rise to each release, and communicate effectively with user at all levels in all roles
- Create the high-level UAT process, defining the workflow, milestones and sign-off points and document UAT test scripts
- Ensure complete transparency and accountability throughout the testing process through the use of RASCI matrices or similar
- Be able to take complex and varied user requirements and turn those into effective and thorough test plans and scenarios, structured logically to achieve the relevant business or technical objectives
- Define entry and exit criteria for all test scenarios
- Create plans and scenarios to test various features, conditions and parameters; smoke test, black box tests, sandboxing and exploration, navigation, content, assets, validation, accessibility, boundaries and inputs, etc.
- Advise on tools and strategies that can improve the efficiency of the testing process and the quality and accuracy of the test results
- Complete User Acceptance Testing of the functional requirements of the enabling platform and business processes
- Demonstrate best practice methods to UA testers provided by the client, briefing them on tasks, methods, focus areas, timescales and deadlines
- Assist in the parallel running of the current system to ensure the new system results are validated against the existing system
- Identify and analyse defects and trends, and provide proactive feedback and suggestions based on the data gathered
- Convey and advise on priorities to the core project team, by assessment of the impact on the project's success criteria
- Prioritise and manage issues through to successful resolution
- Ensure that the test scenarios and workflows are completed in a structured way, prioritised to reflect business or technical priorities
- Coax or support the other tester and project resource where necessary with a lead by example approach

Candidate Specification

- Experience of implementing global or multinational testing projects is preferred.
- This is a hands-on role, with the ideal candidate having the aptitude and capability to systematically test application functionality as part of the development/build/test cycle, whilst ensuring that the development team receive high-quality, timely feedback.
- Previous testing experience is essential
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience of working with an international audience would be an advantage.
- Experience in using standard Microsoft Office tools and Google Apps is expected.
- The ability to document Use Cases, Acceptance Criteria, test cases and scripts.
- The ability to implement testing plans, execute tests, and document results.
- The ability to produce clear and concise documentation suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to prioritise your own workload and deliver to agreed deadlines.
- Pro-active with good problem solving abilities.
- Willingness to adapt with change and be flexible is essential.
