I am actively recruiting on behalf of an industry leading automotive client, based in Gaydon, who are seeking a Project Engineer to work in their Powertrain team.

This role demands that a candidate be capable of managing the team in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support the specific Project using Product Development System principles in conjunction with other company processes as required. As well as being able to negotiate / agree on targets for the modules and ensuring all project deliverables and requirements are monitored, delivered and reported accurately and on time at each gateway and organised. The role extends to having responsibilities such as managing conflict and issue resolution internal to the Centre of Competence and cross function. Monitoring powertrain performance and leading / facilitating or escalating cross module / cross CoC problem resolution on all project aspects of content delivery, including virtual build, physical build and launch support are some other key requirements of the role. The Engineer will also be working closely with other CoCs, Product Strategy, Advanced Product Creation and Marketing to ensure the project delivers the expected prescribed product actions in a robust manner.

3 KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

1) Experience of programme or project management, meeting demanding timescales, budget control and cost effective delivery is essential.

2) Good communication, interpersonal skills, self-confidence and self-motivation are the personal qualities needed to succeed in this high pressure environment, and being able to deliver with minimum supervision.

3) Knowledge of Product Development processes and principles are essential in order to support the review and approval of feasible product actions to ensure robust implementation and compatibility with downstream systems through to production.

Experience Required:

An ability to lead the resolution of technical and process issues within a cross functional Project Team environment, including the ability to represent Powertrain within the wider engineering function. Being computer literate in Google, PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Project is asked of an applicant and regular inter-site travel means a valid UK or European driving licence is preferred.
