Retail Assistant / Sales Assistant – Senior (Supermarket) P/T

Position: Senior Part Time Sales Assistant
Location: Bentilee, Stoke on Trent
Hours: 16 hours per week
Salary: Hourly Paid: 25yrs+ £7.50, 21-24 yrs £7.05, 18-20yrs £6.50, 17yrs £5.57, 16yrs £4.86 (Uplift to £8.30 an hour worked in Snr capacity)

You will provide fast, efficient, pleasant and unrivalled customer service. As a Retail Assistant / Sales Assistant of Heron Foods Ltd, you need to ensure that the store is well stocked, clean and tidy and that customers leave the store with a lasting image.

This role will at times involve responsibility for opening and closing the store in the absence of a manager. They may have to cover the SM ‘s day off so again at times may be responsible for cashing up, banking, ordering and general running of the store. When taking these additional responsibilities the candidate will receive a supplement of 62p per hour on top of £6.50. The remainder of their shifts would be paid at £6.50 per hour i.e. when a manager is present.

a) To provide an excellent customer service by way of efficient, helpful and friendly approach
b) To operate the till in accordance with Company guidelines and procedures to include till drawer control and floats.
c) Ensuring correct pricing of products and stock rotation including the removal from sale of any goods exceeding the ‘use by’ date and advising management of any ‘best before’ issues
d) Merchandising and pricing product to comply with current legislation and Company guidelines
e) Ensuring cabinets and shelves are filled and faced up at all times
f) Stock control management to include stock ordering, checking deliveries and balancing orders
g) Assist with the maintenance of high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and safety throughout the store
h) Observe Company rules, policies and procedures at all times and reporting any breach
i) Working as part of store team to ensure the smooth running of the store
j) Responsible for store housekeeping and cleanliness throughout the store

a) Experience in a similar retail role
b) Proven experience of cash handling and customer service.
c) Customer Focused

a) key holder experience (responsibility of being a key holder, who opens and closes the premises)
