Role - EMC Test Engineer

Location - Malvern, Worcestershire

Salary - £25,000 - £34,000 + Pension + 25 days holiday

The Company

ATA Recruitment are currently working with a highly experienced worldwide business employing over 2,000 staff with a turnover in excess of $300 million. The company provide bespoke mechanical, electronic and electrical testing services to clients in the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Marine and many other industries.

The office based in Malvern is responsible for EMC testing of commercial products such as laptops, WIFI routers and phones. They currently have a team of 10 engineers and they are now looking to add and additional EMC Test Engineer due to recent growth.

The Role

The role of EMC Test Engineer will involve:

- Carrying out EMC tests on commercial products (laptops, wifi routers, phones)

- Customers are often at site for the test and will be walked through the testing being done and update the client during testing process.

- This will also involve managing issues during the tests to the customer. For example if the product is failing the test the engineer will discuss the solutions with them rather than wait until the end of the test and telling them it's failed two weeks later.

- Writing of all the EMC test reports and feeding back issues post test to the client.

EMC Tests are:

- Susceptibility & Immunity tests - firing radiation at the product to see if it interferes with its working operations.
- EMC Emissions Tests - Checking the natural levels of radiation the product gives out.

The Person

To be successful as a EMC Test Engineer you will need:

- A minimum engineering qualification of a HNC/ONC or HND in electrical/electronic engineering.

- Good understanding of electronic principles (reactance, capacitance and inductance)

- Previous work experience working within the fields of electronics with a desire to get into EMC testing.
