Opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to work for a growing regional main contractor in the West Midlands.
Working for the West Midlands office of large regional Main Contractor, operating from 4 offices across the North and Midlands areas of England, on Small to Medium sized Building projects within Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Residential and Public sectors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the design function including all related issues across the companies multiple disciplines, through feasibility, pre-construction and construction stages. They will be responsible for the success of the appearance and appeal of projects and will be required to make decisions on every aspect of this, after full consultation with project and management teams. This role will be focused on managing the Design on a £30 million New Build Extracare project.
Managing the design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise, and in accordance with the company Design Management Procedures.
Ensure pricing assumptions are consistent with the development of the design.
Development of relationships with customers - supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and his/her obligations in the development of a building design.
Management and development of Relationships with Design team.
Ensure the design process recognises current legislation, standards and codes of practice, where appropriate.
Strong background of main contractor design processes at commercial and construction stages.
Expert understanding of the Design & Build process
Planning process and building regulations knowledge
Excellent presentation, communication, management and negotiation skills
Good knowledge of Building Contract and Consultant Contracts
Design, engineering or construction qualification.
£50,000 to £60,000 plus company car/allowance, plus package.
