My client are a well-established Aerospace organisation based in Birmingham who are looking for someone with continuous improvement experience within mechanical/metallic manufacturing.

Continuous Improvement Engineer

Purpose:

Initiate, develop and implement tools, methods and processes that ensure the companies KPI’s and successful implementation of its new production system.

Continuous Improvement Engineer

Specific Accountabilities:

·Work with Module Managers to identify improvement opportunities and establish project goals based on strategic priorities.

·Analyse processes using established CI techniques to optimise performance (statistical analysis, takt time studies, single piece flow, Kan-Ban, value stream mapping, waste elimination, 6s, SMED, OEE, etc.)

·Responsible for implementing appropriate suitable continuous improvement processes for the achievement of key business metrics relating to quality, cost and delivery.

·Facilitate CI teams and coach/mentor them in the Lean/Six Sigma methodology of DMAIC.

·Facilitate the establishment of 6S in the workplace.

·Mentor Green Belts through their training and projects through to accreditation.

Continuous Improvement Engineer

Technical Requirements

·Ideally a University degree in an appropriate Engineering or Manufacturing discipline preferred and complementary experience of Lean Principles and improvement methodologies.

·Prior experience of developing and delivering training in CI techniques is desirable.

·Demonstrated communication, facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.

·Demonstrated project leadership and teamwork skills through effective influencing and challenging of an organisation.

·Demonstrated ability to follow an analytical approach to problem solving.

·Lean/Six Sigma qualification from a recognised institution is preferred.

·Must have a track record and aptitude for developing a team based approach to problem solving and change management.
