About The RoleOur client, a young girl born in 2008, who suffered a trauma at birth that has resulted in her having cerebral palsy affecting her whole body and causing her to have communication difficulties.Our client enjoys visiting places of interest, swimming, outdoor play, going shopping and playing with her friends. She lives at home with her parents and younger brother and attends a special needs school.


The role of the *Female Support Worker is to assist our Client (and her parents) with all aspects of her care and to support the family with everyday life. Our client requires help with all activities of daily living and also help to enable her to access play, learning and social activities. The Support Worker’s task will be to promote wellbeing and independence under the guidance of our client’s parents and involved professionals. The Support Worker will be expected to follow advice and recommendations from parents and specialists i.e. on positioning, feeding, exercises, etc.

Location: Sutton Coldfield – Birmingham, West Midlands
Hours:Permanent shifts: Weekday mornings, Friday Afternoons, Weekends, School holiday shifts available and live In care will be considered. Additional hours may also be available.Bank Hours also available which are ad hoc and variable to meet the needs of the client.
Ongoing training & support provided, 5.6 weeks annual leave, sickness benefit and free DBS check.


£9.50 per hour Monday – Friday, Days and £11.50 per hour Weekends, Days. Sleeping Nights will be paid at National Minimum Wage (currently £6.95 for workers age 21 – 24) or National Living Wage (currently £7.20 for workers age 25 and above) per hour dependent on the workers age. Ongoing training & support provided. Free DBS check.

About You
Support Worker Attributes:
  • *Female – personal care required.
  • Confident working in a family home and sensitive to the needs & wishes of the client and his family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality & privacy, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Flexible, encouraging and proactive attitude to work.
  • Happy to learn new things – feeding techniques, personal care routine etc. Training will be given as appropriate and will be agreed with the family and Case Manager.
  • Proactive approach to developing an appropriate range of activities and willing to participate in a variety of outdoor activities
  • Keen to see the child develop and have a willingness to carry through therapeutic activities on a daily basis. Training will be given as required.
  • Open to accompanying the family on days out in school holidays or at weekends and possibly on holidays. Arrangements will be agreed by the family and the Support Worker.
  • Full clean driving licence and willing to drive the client’s adapted vehicle.
  • Non Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment.
  • *Physically fit, for moving & handling purposes.
Satisfactory references & proof of eligibility to work in the UK required.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS.A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.
