Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

The Company:

*An engineering services company providing solutions to Nuclear, Energy & Defence Industries in the UK and Globally.

The Role:

*To define, develop and manage Welding Processes and Special Processes and standards so that welding performance is enhanced across the project lifecycle and Customer/ Regulatory requirements are fulfilled.

*To support bids and establish processes which enhance design for manufacture associated with special processes and welding activities.

*To establish and operate, with the Operational QC Manager, special processes and welding governance systems which include Management audits, Gemba walks, special processes and welding inspection, special process, arrangements, KPIs and monthly reporting

*To develop competency and manage SQEP of the welding teams across the company so that customer and regulatory requirements are fulfilled.

*To establish and manage subcontractor approval activities associated with welding and special processes

*To support functional Management by providing functional welding expertise on investigations, training, process development etc.

Key responsibilities

Key Activities

*To provide appropriately management of the Special Processes Team in terms of the QA and QC of special processes including the process and product verification/inspection activities and assume responsibility for:

-Special Process procedures/technique sheet compilation, review and approval;

-pWPS/WPS/WPQR compilation, review and approval

*Management of all associated Product LQRs and Process Records

*Management of all Inspection, Test and Measuring Equipment used for verification

*Management of staff in terms of their Welfare, Training and Development and performance management

*Management of departments budget and spend including reporting of performance

*Management of teams' workload and priorities in line with project delivery needs.

*Resource Management Planning to support tenders, bids, emerging and current project needs

*Provide support to Bid/Estimate support in terms of Special processes and welding through deployment of the team

*Provide Technical support to supply chain approval process in line with procurement supply chain development strategy and audit schedule

*Support to Investigations, RCA and Corrective action in terms of Welding and Special Process Non-Conforming Product and/or audit NCRs

*Establish KPIs to monitor and drive improvement in respect to welding and special processes.

*Provide input into periodic Management Reports and Reviews as demanded by Head of SHSEQ

*Provide support to product verification at source (Supply Chain) and also to Customer Verification activities which involve Special process or welding verification in line with Quality Plan, ITP and/or planned route card operations

*Additionally, assume responsibility for the test facilities and staff as follows;

-the results of special process and welding operations

-verification of visual acuity of special process's and welding staff and contractors

-ensuring that personnel hold valid certification relevant to their tasks within the organisation;

-maintaining appropriate records.

*Establishing, reviewing for editorial and technical correctness and validation of special process and welding instructions and procedures;

*Interpreting special process and welding codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the actual working conditions;

*Designating the particular test methods, techniques and procedures to be used and define the limitations of application of the testing methods;

-setting up and verifying equipment settings;

*Performing and directing special process and welding operations within scope of certification.

*Evaluating and interpret results in terms of existing standards, codes, and specifications;

*Maintaining sufficient practical knowledge of applicable materials, fabrication, process, and product technology to select special process and welding methods, establish special process/welding techniques, and assist in establishing acceptance criteria where none are otherwise available;

*Providing training to other areas within the team capability to help enhance other employees' competence and improve l efficiency and effectiveness of Special processes activities.

*Maintaining a general familiarity with other special process and welding methods.

*Providing job-specific training, development and guidance at all special process and welding levels;

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

*Minimum HNC in a related subject e.g. materials or engineering

*Level 3 PCN qualification in;

-Visual Testing

-Liquid Penetrant Testing

-Magnetic Penetrant Testing

-Ultrasonic testing

*Level 2 qualification (PCNII/ CSWIP3.1) in;

-Weld Inspection

*5 years minimum relevant industry experience from Nuclear/Aerospace/Defence/Oil & Gas Engineering Sectors

*Interpretation of complex detailed engineering drawings and associated specifications and standards

*Highly competent with MS Office applications

*Radiographic Interpretation

*Auditing Skills

*Quality Management

*Problem Solving; Improvement e.g. 8D, DMAIC

Desired Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

*Degree or Higher in a related subject

*CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 (or PCN equivalent)

*RWC Status (Specialist or Comprehensive) or IWS/IWT/IWE

*Membership of Welding/NDT/Materials institutions

*Level 2 or higher Qualification in;

*Paint Inspection
