My client is looking to recruit a Product Technologist to work within the Technical team in Head Office, based in the West Midlands. They will have responsibility for their own areas of the range supporting the Quality Manager.

I am working with one of the largest and longest-established accessories businesses in the UK. Based in the West Midlands, they operate both in the UK and internationally specialising in watches, gifting, jewellery and accessories. They are looking for a Product Technologist to join their team.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical assessment of products - product development & risk assessment to ensure all products are fit for purpose, in line with foreseeable use, meet quality, safety, and legal requirements
  • Product - Clear and consistent application of quality to achieve right first-time samples, reduction in cost of samples and number of assessments to achieve approval
  • All products must meet attributes/criteria as defined in the product brief and standards set
  • Demonstrate a passion for the products, with a clear focus on the customer requirements
  • Management of critical path time lines to ensure that the customer's technical specifications & testing uploads to portals/systems are available on time
  • Clear, cross functional communication with our Far East factories, technical team's, and inspection centre to capture quality failures in country and work as a team for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with the sales/design/merch teams and supplier base to facilitate a timely schedule for product testing and manage this throughout the critical path
  • Initiate product assessment sessions with customer base where required to assess technical requirements & specifications of product range submitted
  • Ensure all customer mandatory testing requirements are met and managed alongside due diligence testing programme
  • Manage testing risk assessment process to meet customer requirements and focus on internal testing budget
  • Track products under test and manage supplier and testing house to ensure results are received on time
  • Report test results to relevant stakeholders of the product/brand and provide an easy to understand summary to non-technical colleagues
  • Provide constructive solutions to resolve issues raised during product assessment which is commercial in evaluation and maintains the design concept/s
  • Assess and approve product and packaging labels and artwork to customers' and legislative requirements
  • Ensure all QA quality records are filed and stored in an efficient, accurate manner
  • Support and contribute to business/department improvement projects as required by the Group Quality manager
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-compliance issues relating to allocated accounts and provide corrective action plans
  • New innovations - initiate market research for product improvements to present to customers and internal teams
  • Assist in other duties necessary to complete tasks appropriate to the department

Profile

Experience & Core Skills

  • Relevant Degree and/or Previous relevant experience and a proven record of accomplishment of delivering safe, legal, and ethical products to the customer
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance systems
  • Enthusiastic and determined, with a passion for innovation and technology, team spirit and positive attitude
  • A confident communicator who can maintain strong working relationships, influence, and engage others
  • Agile and open minded in approach
  • Able to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Analytical and able to interpret test results effectively and take appropriate actions
  • Able to clearly communicate at all levels, both verbal and written
