We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Registered Manager to initially manage a 3 bed Children’s Care Home (EBD) in Sutton Coldfield.

Our clients have a three bedded residential Children's Care Home (EBD), based in Sutton Coldfield. Our doors are open for young people aged between 8-17 years of age; these children can present emotional and challenging behaviours.

They are a ethical company that truly put the Children first and are looking for a passionate, hardworking individual who can motivate these young people to do and see better through their enthusiasm. The registered manager of the children's care home must provide an environment to these young people in which their needs can be catered for, whilst encouraging independent living and choice whenever possible. You must have good communication skills; you should be able to maintain all paperwork, concerns and queries of the young people/staff, and communicate well with other relevant agencies.

You must be someone who prioritises the needs of the young people over everything else; this role requires a high level of patience and understanding. We are also looking for candidates to be able to think effectively on their own, and manage staff in an adequate manner, ensuring that their duties and responsibilities are completed as well as managing to effectively complete your own. You must effectively exercise leadership skills, such that the home is organised, managed and staffed in a manner which delivers the best possible care. Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Encouraging staff and giving them the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge to their full potential, and assessing and reviewing these developments. Supervision should be provided to the staff to ensure high standards of professional care for the young people
  • Consulting and involving the staff in decisions concerning the home
  • Ensuring that the allocation of staff duties are clearly defined
  • Organising staff training
  • Reviewing working practices and conditions at regular intervals
  • Having excellent knowledge of rules, regulations and relevant policies concerning the home, and ensuring that all staff members familiarise themselves with these. Everyone within the home must make sure they abide by these
  • Ensuring that systems are developed and are in place to regularly monitor and adhere to the care standards
  • Planning and implementing programmes of care and activities for the young people individually by working with other professional colleagues
  • Maintaining reports and records of the young people and their progress, and attending relevant meetings, care reviews, parents evenings etc. and making relevant referrals to other agencies if needs be
  • Ensuring that all drugs and medication are stored appropriately, making sure they are administered as prescribed to each young person by their GP
  • Report issues of any service needs
  • Ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and accurate
  • Participating in the recruitment, selection, interviewing and induction of new staff, also ensuring that new staff are taken through the induction training programme making sure they have signed stating they have done so
  • The successful candidate will:

  • Have a successful track record working with Ofsted
  • Have experience of working with children with EBD
  • Be able to deal with challenging environments
  • Have commissioning experience
  • Hold an NVQ level 5 in leadership and management
  • Working hours: Full time position. Candidates are required to obtain/hold an enhanced DBS check

    Required experience:

  • Manager in children's care home: minimum 1 year
  • Working with children and young people: minimum 3 years
  • Job Type: Full-time

    Required licences or certifications:

  • NVQ 5
  • Driving License
