A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales.

The main purpose of the role is to raise confidence within rural and business communities by being visible, proactively engaging with communities, problem solving and effective communication to achieve positive outcomes.

To deliver and enhance 'Rural Matters and 'Your Business Matters strategic and tactical plans to achieve outcomes for those communities in line with the Safer West Mercia Plan.

Main Responsibilities:

Implement the policing approach to deliver 'Rural Matters and 'Your Business Matters, reflecting the Safer West Mercia Plan.

Liaise with victims of rural and business crimes, particularly repeat or vulnerable victims to provide reassurance and to promote and encourage crime reduction information and advice for communities to protect themselves.

Work with partner agencies and policing colleagues to identify and reduce threat, harm and risk and to attend relevant meetings and events with rural and business communities to promote crime prevention and provide information and advice

Develop and maintain a communication strategy thus ensuring rural and business communities have information made available to them to prevent and reduce their opportunities to become a victim of crime and for communities to raise their concerns.

Develop and maintain a close working relationship with policing area management teams to assist and enable effective tasking of resources in relation to the tackling of local crime issues in rural and business communities, particularly where revictimisation or vulnerabilities has been identified.

Undertake environmental scanning across rural / business sectors to identify innovative approaches to reducing crime, developing and enhancing existing skills where appropriate.

Produce timely and relevant reports to management teams, rural and business portfolio lead, Community Safety Partnerships and PCCs office. These reports to outline outcomes outlining activity; to include partnership working, engagement with communities and victims, problem solving and innovative work.

To undertake a daily review of crimes, incidents, issues and liaise with harm hub colleagues to ensure the most appropriate response is adopted.

Become the Alliance / force point of contact for identified tactical threads within the strategic 'Rural Matters and 'Your Business Matters plans. This will require research and best practice nationally and appropriate briefing and support to other rural / business officers and police colleagues.

To provide basic advice around cyber security and provide a signposting service to Rural / Business communities affected and concerned about cyber related crime.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

Experience/Skills:

Educated to A level/ NVQ level 3 or equivalent

Previous experience of providing advice and presenting information to small businesses, community groups or victims of crime.

A proven track record of building positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence activity.

Ability to work on own initiative and manage own workload.

Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to present information to individuals and groups.

Good computer skills, particularly windows based packages.

Special Conditions:

Travel throughout Warwickshire and West Mercia

Occasional out of hours or weekend working
