Eve Fellows, Senior & Part Qualified Accounting specialist at Reed Accountancy is working closely with a local client to help them find a Head of Finance for a 12 month fixed term contract.

The role

As the Head of Finance you will take responsibility for management of a team of 5 people and will report directly to the Finance Director. The team consists of Finance business Partners, Financial Control & 2 transnational clerks.

You will be responsible for the financial management of the Group to meet corporate, operational and wider business objectives and aspirations.

You will assist the Executive and Corporate Management Team as required and provide professional advice in relation to financial, business management and strategic issues.

You will prepare reports for, and attend Board meetings and other meetings as required, to present reports within the post holders areas of responsibility and provide financial information to non-financial personnel.

Key responsibilities will include:
* Manage the design, development and maintenance of the Group's financial services and reporting systems to ensure the financial health of the organisation to meet current and future business and service needs.
* Develop and implement financial and accounting systems which improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation's core and expanding business.
* Develop and implement capital and revenue budgets which meet the needs of the business and the corporate plan.
* Engage staff in the management of income and expenditure by guidance and interpretation of monthly financial data.
* Prepare the final statutory accounts and associated records.
* Act as a link manager with internal and external auditors.
* Risk management and reporting, including viability assessments of new areas of business.
* Manage the loan accounting, investments and treasury management systems and policies including risk monitoring and reporting.
* Maintain the fixed asset register, depreciation schedules and prepare forecasts of capital spend and depreciation.
* Responsible for the proper treatment of statutory payments, VAT, Corporation Tax, CIS etc.
* Monitor and control expenditure in accordance with the budget, procedures, levels of delegated authority and financial control / audit requirements.
* Provide appropriate reporting systems to the Finance Director and Corporate Management Team as required
* Contribute effectively to regular Management Team meetings.
* Ensure that the values of the organisation are displayed through all work activities.
* Deputise for the Finance Director as required.

Person Specification

You will have the following experience, knowledge & understanding:
* Use of specialist financial software.
* Experience of closing financial statements and VAT.
* Experience of Corporate tax (Desirable).
* Experience of managing a finance team and able to demonstrate understanding of people needs in relation to achievement of business objectives.
* Experience of working within a group structure (desirable).
* Commitment to values.

* Strong business acumen, ability to report and comply business and strategic issues across group.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Demonstrates excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences and at all levels.
* Ability to prepare and present clear, concise and objective reports to Boards and Committees.
* Displays diplomacy and confidentiality.
* Demonstrable commitment to internal and external customer service in all activities.
