Graduate Mathematics Coach/Teaching Assistant - Birmingham Academy - Starts Sep

A school located in Birmingham (east), a long term client of Edustaff, are now recruiting a graduate of Mathematics to join them from September. The position is working five days a week as an Academic Coach/Teaching Assistant in their maths department. They would like a graduate that can commit for the full school year, ending in July.

With over 1400 pupils ranging from 11 to 19 this is a relatively large school. They are updating their traditional buildings with new blocks and modernisation as they continue to grow. The school are extremely proud of the academic achievements their pupils achieve through their rich and varied curriculum but are also keen to ensure pupils leave the school with the right attitude and social graces they'll need to prosper in the outside world.

Working with the head of mathematics and the departments team of teachers the recruited graduate Teaching Assistant will be responsible for coaching and mentoring pupils who are in Key Stage 4 approaching their GCSEs. Most of the work will be with pupils who are on the C/D borderline ensuring they push in to that all important C grade.
Using your skills and knowledge in mathematics you will be committed to ensuring the pupils under your care make the necessary progress in the subject. You will need to use creative and imaginative methods to help pupils best understand specific topics or learning objectives. As the year progresses you will build a bank of resources and teaching tools that can be used and adapted when you start teacher training.
