Service Centre Manager/General Manager - High Value Metals and Process
Due to the current incumbent moving internally within the business, an exciting opportunity has arisen with one of our clients for an exceptional and professional Service Centre Manager/General Manager - High Value Metals and Processing Services to be Midlands based, working across the UK and Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Sales and Commercial background and will also have experience of working either for a High Value Metals Distributor, a Metals Processing or Value Added Services business or a company who does this as part of their overall offering, a Commercial Metals business or the individual will have experience of working for an Engineering company or will come from a Fabrication or Machining Background to work across the UK and Ireland.
As the Service Centre Manager/General Manager - High Value Metals and Processing Services, you will have Full P&L Responsibilities for the business and the entire workforce across sales, operations and admin. You will also be responsible maximising return on investment and profit and you will be measured on gross profit, return on capital employed and other measured activities on other business functions. You will also be judged you on continuing the good work that has been done getting the team working well together, increasing the customer base whilst maintaining existing key clients.
You will work with a customer base of clients in sectors such as general engineering, the street furniture industry, the catering sector, the renewables and domestic water tank industry, lift manufacturers, aluminium vent manufacturers, and the road traffic sign manufacturers so experience in any of these would be desirable as what they do is so very varied.
This role offers excellent, varied and diverse and potentially rapid opportunities for career progression into more senior positions throughout the company and wider group for the successful applicant so you will be an ambitious and forward thinking individual who is hungry and thrives on a challenge.
You will possess a proven track record of working either for a High Value Metals Distributor, a Metals Processing or Value Added Services business (or a company who does this as part of their overall offering), a Commercial Metals business, an Engineering company, a Fabrication company or a Machining company to work across the UK and Ireland. In addition, you must have Strong Commercial Acumen and a Strong Sales and Commercial background.
The company require applicants who can demonstrate and entrepreneurial spirit - this is incredibly important based on the culture of the company and how it is run so this must be stressed as the key behavioural that needs to be demonstrated. They are also very keen to speak with individuals who speak openly and directly but who work at a fast pace and are driven. Following this however, they will look for applicants who are bright, sharp and also candidates who can ideally demonstrate a certain amount of longevity in their most reason positions. They also look for candidates who have the attitude of seeing things through, are keen to succeed, hardworking, dynamic and bring lots of energy to the role. In general though they also look for candidates who have strong man management experience and also who ideally have some form of engineering experience in their CV. They also look for candidates who are positive, have a can-do attitude, are ambitious and very much have the view of if the business does well, they do well.
