My well established client is looking for a Head of Procurement to join their team. The role will involve maximising value for money by reducing cost through improved procurement. You will build confidence and enthusiasm for procurement through the team and review the group procurement strategy and propose improvements in order to take to the next level.


  • Developing and deploying a strategy for the procurement function in line with the business strategy and CBRproject delivery
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of targets and key milestones of the agreed business plan
  • Utilising and further developing the project management systems to establish a robust reporting and communications vehicle, designed to inform, maintain alignment and create a culture of cross-functional working
  • Working closely with lead stakeholders on the development and delivery of category annual budgets, including forecasting and delivery of in-year CBR targets, rebates, inflation mitigation, etc
  • Challenging traditional thinking and bringing leading edge Supply Chain expertise to ensure all Procurement team members develop and deliver broader Sourcing Strategies that meet wider needs in quality, service, CSR and innovation
  • Developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, in order to overcome objections from senior managers internally and at suppliers
  • Conducting tenders, negotiations and reverse auctions in order to deliver objectives
  • Maintaining and presenting formal progress updates and end of project reports
  • Working cross-functionally to lead the establishment, refinement and maintenance of new processes, systems and responsibilities across the procurement of goods and services
  • Recognising when team members need support and learning to ensure overall success in delivery of the procurement Vision

Essential Attributes:

  • Graduate level or equivalent education
  • Proven ability to build and execute a procurement strategy
  • Demonstrable project management skills with a track record of on-time & in-full delivery
  • Strong financial acumen, with evidence of influence or ownership of major spend area budgets
  • Able to construct and communicate a verbal, written or PowerPoint message, refining on their feet in response to stakeholder feedback
  • Significant senior procurement experience in a major UK or international company. Demonstrating healthy progression in that time
  • A breadth of category management experience, moving successfully and quickly between Direct and Indirect Goods and Services categories
  • Proven ability to operate successfully under the scrutiny of senior cross-functional management
  • Strong experience of delivering organisational change at pace
