Provide Body Development activities to Body Engineering design and release functions.
• Coordinate all Body Development activities from level 2 targets setting & risk identification, risk assessment & mitigation, to the development of solutions for all failure modes occurring during the delivery of Design Verification Plan sign-off plan.
• To support the body engineering Programme Module Sub Teams and Programme Attribute Teams in the generation of detailed component and system level engineering targets.
• To support body engineering Programme Module Sub Teams and CAE with Body structure related development.
• To ensure all load cases are understood at a high level. To quickly and accurately define the target acceptance criteria.
• To provide proactive, creative and practical problem solving to advance the development of body engineering designs.
• To perform early failure mode detection through Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis on CAD.
• To determine risks that require physical development.
• To work with lead engineer to find optimal engineering solutions that meets target requirement.
• To analyse test failures, determine root cause and develop a robust solution that meets target requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

• Contribute to engineering design activities from targets setting through development to production
• Define load cases and high level requirements for all commodities
• Define acceptance criteria
• Run CAD based Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis activity
• Identify risk for each target
• Mitigate risks by identifying optimal engineering solution for each commodity to meet target requirement
• Develop corrective solutions to test failures: analyse failure, determine root cause, implement solution
• Support Body testing activities especially during pre-Final Data Judgement buck development and Design Verification Plan delivery
• Support Design reviews from target settings through development of production parts
• Generate new concept ideas
• Define physical requirements for prototype parts and physical test activities
• Interact with Body testing on benchmarking activity to support target setting/load case activity
• Ensure all commodities meets the targets requirements
• Participate to benchmarking activities to support design & target setting
• Support the updating/writing of current/new test methods
• Support technical reviews
• Manage resource and activity development with short and long term vision for activity, resource needs, processes, budget or equipment
• Manage teams' mid-year and end of year reviews
• Manage recruitment of team members
• Manage other administrative related activities for the team
• Manage and anticipate team workload and team members' availabilities at any time

Qualifications & Experience

• Engineering Degree (or equivalent qualification)
• Extensive experience in Body Engineering (body components, structures & systems)
• Experience in Engineering problem resolving (for example body components, structures & systems)
• Experience in Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
• Experience with hands-on problem solving approach
• Good technical skills (build of rigs, use of CAD drawings, GD&T)
• Good communication skills: able to communicate ideas clearly & concisely
• Capability of working under pressure
• Good spatial awareness & conceptual abilities
• Ability to manage multiple demands on time & priorities
• Excellent analytical & systematic approach to problem solving
• Ability to take decisions that minimise engineering risk in a solution
• Open-minded & lateral thinking
• Ability to lead and manage personnel
• Deadlines and timing plans based on new vehicle project timing.
• Valid driving licence

• Body Engineering related degree (development, performance, production processes, joining technologies for car bodies)
• Experience in Automotive industry (experience within other engineering sectors will also be considered)
• Experience in team management
