We have been tasked to find an experienced Automotive Project Manager / Consultant to join an organisation that has a primary purpose of supporting UK industries in the area of Vehicle Low Carbon and Electric / Hybrid Powertrain development.
This is an outward facing position that will be responsible for creating strong networks and communication lines with various key players in automotive and commercial vehicle development, academic groups and other industry supporting experts and authorities.
The primary aim is the shaping and the implementation of the UK's Low Carbon technology research and development agendas.

Weekly Duties will include:

• Be the organisation lead for low carbon automotive propulsion technology trend scanning and analysis.
• Be the organisations lead for the management and maintenance of Automotive Council technology roadmaps and capability studies.
• Direct management of a Technology Trend Analyst
• Disseminate trend analysis across the wider internal team and initiatives.
• Develop a standard process to create and refine technology roadmaps, utilising external agencies as required and within agreed budgets.
• Develop a process to ensure that the roadmaps evolve to be a living document around which special interest groups provide on-going input in order to capture and report on-going sentiment and advances in technology observed through technology scanning or industry/academia input.• Establish a global technology scanning capability, focussed on roadmap topic areas, plus vehicle usage and market trends.
• Lead dissemination of the roadmaps and assist in enquiries / requests for greater detail or additional research.
• Work with partners (including the Automotive Council Supply Chain Group and Technology Group) and service providers to refresh and maintain a UK low carbon propulsion technology capabilities study
• Work with the business development team to develop a potential revenue generating product supporting the creation of roadmaps for 3rd parties (SME's / industry groups)

Experience Required:

• A formal qualification in engineering and at least 10 years in industry (Engine, Driveline, Power Development)
• Experience of supporting industry & government technology development agendas
• Experience of commissioning and managing 3rd party consultancy support.
• Automotive market background, including experience of market analysis and appreciation of understanding the impact of technology trends and creation of relevant solutions that can capitalise on new market opportunities.
• Experience of managing multiple programme streams and project portfolios across multiple themed areas.
• Experience of handling change effectively and positively and provide innovative solutions to overcome entrenched ways of working and constraints.
• Experience of new product development cycles including understanding of TRL / MRL challenges; working with academia and partners throughout the supply chain.
• Good listening, facilitation, conflict management and consensus building skills.
• Ability to research and quickly analyse data and relate them to wider strategic perspectives and actions.
• Good presentation, analytical and communication skills (including presenting to large audiences and senior stakeholders).
• A strong knowledge and self-sufficiency in the use of MS Office suite applications, including the ability to consolidate information and present in an appropriate manner through spread sheets, databases or other visual media.

This is a great position for a mid-level / career - Project Manager / Consultant, who has gained experience in New Product Development / Introduction and who has gained recent experience of working as Consultant on behalf of an organisation is supporting customers projects and needs.

The position will report directly to a Company Director and will form part of the organisations Senior Customer Facing Team
