A fantastic opportunity for an Electronics Engineer to join a major automotive brand with continued plans to expand both their product range and modern facilities. Due to continued product expansion, this is a new role to join an expanding R&D team.

Electronics Engineer - Automotive Systems Test & Validation

Location: Leicestershire

As a Systems Test and Validation Engineer you will work with an large engineering team, to ensure all new electrical and electronic systems meet the stringent international quality standards, in terms of both hardware and software functionality.

Duties and responsibilities:
o Identify effective test strategies for a given component/system and create test plans accordingly.
o Prepare black box/ component / system tests & analyse results.
o Maintain detailed 'bug lists', document issues found during testing and create periodic test reports to show progress.
o Analyse existing / create new functional specifications and other systems related documents to a high standard.
o Provide supplier feedback re issues found during testing.
o Conduct whole vehicle practical tests according to established internal standard test procedures.
o Launch product software updates to vehicles and issue tracking.

Experience required:
You will already be working within an Electronics or Software Design & Development environment, ideally with safety critical products such as automotive, aerospace, rail, energy, medical or similar industry.
o A good honours Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related field; or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
o Previous experience or a particular interest in either electronics product development or test roles.
o Experience in defining and creating electronics hardware or software test plans/ scripts
o Strong communication and technical reporting skills, including the ability to communicate with suppliers.
o Excellent troubleshooting skills for embedded hardware and software.
o Proficiency in C or C++ to create automated software test scripts
o Excellent team working skills and the ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.
o An inquisitive and creative mind, exploration of unusual test scenarios which are beyond what is expected of the system / users.

Desirable skill requirements:
o Experience/ knowledge of CAN systems - CANalyser / CANoe or a similar
o Strong scripting skills in at least one common language (Python, Perl, Shell)
o Previous experience in an automotive testing environment.
