About the role
We're seeking a Lead Accountant to take responsibility within the Income and Debt team responsible for the accounting of Turnover and Debtors data to ensure the correct P&L and balance sheet position at month and year end. The majority of our income comes in the form of our retail household and non household water bills. You'll liaise with stakeholders in our customer care team to collect data and prepare key management information and periodic budget and forecast data - this is key information to help their decision making both in short term and over the next 5 year business cycle. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the reported numbers (monthly, annual and OFWAT Annual Return) determined by the Income and Debt team are reasonable, accurate and consistent. You'll operate and our bad debt provisioning model and be the point of contact with external auditors to resolve income and debt focused queries.

About you
We're looking for a qualified accountant such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA (or equivalent) who has strong system skills and knowledge of company debt management processes. You will have experience presenting financial information to 'non-finance' staff in such a way to aid understanding and to ensure effective financial control and the correct accounting treatment of expenditure. Whilst not essential, experience using Finance accounting systems such as Oracle Discoverer, Quantum, SAP, and Hyperion would be desirable.
