A leading social housing refurbishment contractor are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor due to a massive increase in work load.

The company are privately owned and are currently undertaken work in the East and West Midlands.

Working out of the West Midlands office

Salary is between 25-30k with package and this is a permanent position with a success company with a very bright future.

Role overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic candidates to apply themselves to one of the UK's market leaders in social housing refurb.

The main purpose of this role is to assist the Senior Quantity Surveyors in the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project in order to control and maximise the company's profitability, protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues.

This is to include assist in ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and also ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors.

In addition ensuring cost reports and the like are managed, completed on time and monitored.


-Sub-contract procurement and commercial management on a designated project(s)

-Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts

-Change management control

-Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
-To help manage the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting on a designated project(s)
-Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
-Assist the Senior QS with subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their work

-Measure progress, submit valuations, help submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner
-Process subcontractor requests for payment
-Help complete a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designation project(s)
-Where appropriate, assist with estimates and negotiations for future projects or phases
-Manage the costs on a project to ensure both the company and the client is fully advised of the cost situation
-To supervise with all staff, clients, consultants and residents in a professional manner
-Assist in ensuring company with Health & Safety
-Any other reasonable management request
-Maintaining and developing professional relationships with the Client, to help future business development

Essential Skills/Experience:

Post graduate experience within a surveying position reporting to either a senior surveyor or a commercial manager

Excellent verbal communication skills

Good level of numeracy

Good influencing skills

IT skills - MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc

Areas: West and East Midlands

Qualifications: Previous experience as an Assistant QS for a similar contractor or a degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent degree.

Salary/Package: Dependent on Experience and will include a company car or car allowance plus package.
