Structural Design Engineer opportunity within timber/steel
Our client, a market leading organisation at the forefront of their field are looking to appoint a design engineer with an interest in timber design and modern methods of construction who is looking to broaden their knowledge of engineering to include fabrication techniques, temporary works, connection design and 3d modelling as well as scheme and detailed design.
Reporting directly to the Design/Technical Manager the successful candidate will be expected to produce structural designs including both member and panel sizing as well as connection designs for both tenders and live contracts, provide advice on the stability of structures both in the temporary and permanent conditions and help further develop the company's technical expertise within the structural steel, glulam, and hybrid fields.
You will be required to produce robust designs for structures for both tender and live contacts including primary / secondary member designs together with connection details and temporary works requirements for the safe erection of the structure and be able to produce sketches and marked up drawings as well as detailed calculations to back up design proposals, while knowledge of relevant design codes (both British Standards and EuroCodes) and knowledge of timber design to EC5 is desirable.
