About the Team

RDM (Retail Development Management) team focusses on retail development, management and major restructuring of retail schemes. The team is structured with senior fee earners, and paralegals, and takes a streamlined approach to the work it undertakes

Main Purpose of the Job

Providing paralegal support to the retail development and management team ("RDM") which forms part of the larger commercial development and investment team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

General Administrative duties and some legal transactional work including:

File set up and administration
Preparation of initial documentation/liaising with the fee earners in relation to issue of those documents/ assisting in the management of matters by diarising/chasing other firms of solicitors and processing of revised versions of documentation
Preparation of engrossments and handling completion and post completion aspects
Preparation and circulation of update reports and documentation reporting
Portal Management – setting up and maintaining client portals with all current documentation and liaising with the team and client on this. Managing log-ins for client/their team and third parties.
Deeds management - maintaining complete and accurate records of deeds received into the team and despatched back to clients or third parties. Updating portals alongside physical deeds management.
Liaison with clients and other firms of solicitors and agents in dealing with administrative aspects of matters.
Obtaining copies of entries and documents from Land Registry and carrying out searches and other land registry dealings as required by the team members from time to time.
The applicant may have the opportunity to expand the role with experience and to take on more responsibility over time.?
Any other reasonable duties delegated by any Partner, Senior Manager or Practice Operations Manager of the firm.

Key skills and experience

Some experience of working in a legal environment would be preferable but not essential.
An understanding of the procedural elements of commercial property transactions gained either in a practical legal environment or during academic legal training.
Experience of developing strong working relationships with colleagues and working as part of a team.
