About the Team

Gowling WLG is home to one of the UK's largest real estate practices with a team of more than 275 commercially-minded, innovative and pragmatic lawyers.

We work alongside many of the sector's most successful companies and have helped to deliver numerous high profile projects, advising throughout their lifecycle.

The residential development team, one of the top specialist teams in the country, sits within the real estate group, one of the largest real estate practice in the UK. The merger with Lawrence Graham in London on 1 May further increases the size, scale and opportunities of the real estate group and the residential team in particular.

The residential development team comprises 4 partners and 15 lawyers focusing solely on advising residential developers. Around 90% of the team’s work is for national plc house builders, but it also acts for some commercial developers in relation to mixed use schemes, some smaller niche enterprises and some landowners.

Main Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the role is to advise house builders and other property companies on residential development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities


Site acquisition and disposal
Acquisition of strategic land
Collaborations/joint ventures
Funding
Planning and infrastructure agreements


Any other reasonable duties delegated by any Partner, Senior Manager of the firm or Group Support Manager.

Key skills and experience

The team prides itself on clear and practical advice with sound commercial judgment and swift and accurate implementation of instructions.

Residential development expertise would be preferred.
