Education Link Worker
The main purpose of the Education Link Worker is to identify young carers in schools who are not currently receiving any support to ensure that young carers receive the support they need. They will work with schools to raise awareness of young carers' issues to both staff and pupils in schools and the local community to reach those young carers who are hidden from view. Young carers are a vulnerable and disadvantaged group specifically mentioned in Ofsted's School Inspection Handbook (Ofsted, 2014).
The post-holder will have an understanding of issues affecting young people and those faced by young carers, in particular. They will also have an understanding of emotional and development issues for young carers and the legislation and safeguarding in relation to child protection and vulnerable adults.
