My client is a global recognised manufacture who has been a constant name in there market place for over a 100 years .

Due to project growth and demand they are currently recruiting multiple Senior Cost Engineers to be based within there Gaydon site.

Cost Engineering function is an integral part of my clients Purchasing Department and is responsible for ensuring the correct use of funds appertaining to all aspects of the supply chain in line with product aspirations. Cost Engineering is an exciting department that plays a key role in our business; it is driven by a passion to deliver profitable growth, by partnering the business in all our operational functions.

In this technically orientated role, you'll provide the business with robust, relevant and timely 'should cost' estimates and analysis. This will be relating to any part with integrated software, supplied for use in the production of my customers vehicles, be they current or future models. You'll support the Purchasing team in their negotiations with suppliers, working closely with Design Engineers as a business advisor. Having the knowledge to influence relevant programmes and commodity directions with regards to software uses within the car will be expected. You'll be tasked with identifying and supporting the implementation of opportunities to reduce software costs and be the subject matter expert for software within the Cost Engineering Team.

This very niche role will require an engineering background in software architecture and software design (experience of C++, java script, HTML5, Linux, QNX). You'll have an understanding of design and resource of the build and release process for large-scale software projects. Experience of Software Toolset design and definition will be required, and this will include budgetary planning around toolsets and the associated maintenance. You'll have an appreciation for the software development life cycle through both waterfall and agile development. A good all-round knowledge of standard computer programmes will be important along with previous experience of project management in large-scale software development.
