JOB PURPOSE:

To assist with the administration of sources of student financial support such as Learner Support Fund, Welsh EMA, Adult Learning Grant, Vulnerable Bursaries, Residential Bursaries and Advanced Learning Loans. To provide a general welfare service and to provide appropriate administrative and clerical support.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To work with Marketing/Admissions to actively promote financial support available for learners and support learners to access it.

To assist in networking and liaising with students, their parents/guardians, academic and business support staff and the Approved Providing Body in matters relating to the management of financial support.

To maintain systems for the collation of learner attendance linked to student finance. To include recording absences and chasing relevant attendance information from students and tutors.

To administer and develop effective recording systems for Advanced Learning Loans, Welsh EMA, Welsh government learning grants, 16-18 and 19+ Discretionally Learner Support, Vulnerable Bursaries, Residential Bursaries, Free College Meals, hardship payments, Student Loans, Student Loan Bursaries, Local Authority taxi funding monitoring and bus passes.

To ensure up to date knowledge of financial support available to learners.

To ensure that data, when required by College managers or external agencies, is readily available.

Collate financial eligibility evidence from learners, monitor and report on these.

To provide information face-to-face, via email or over the telephone to students/parents/guardians, carers enquiring about those in point 4.

To advise students on transport issues, including public services, College routes and support for fares; liaising closely with the Estates Manager and receptions.

To provide a general welfare service, liaising closely with others in the Student Services team and external agencies.

To assist in College information events, IAG for students and invigilation.

To carry out a range of administrative and clerical duties eg word processing, filing, photocopying etc relating to items listed in point 4.

To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required commensurate with the nature and grade of the post detailed by the Student Services Manager, Deputy Principal Quality and Student Services and the Principal.
