Job Title: Assistant Retail ManagerDepartment: Ticketing & RetailReports to: Retail ManagerHours of work: Due to the nature of the role flexibility is required and hours will vary in accordance with operational business needs but will be a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
Purpose of the Post: Responsibility for assisting the Retail Manager with the day-to-day running of the Birmingham City retail department, including the Blues Store and Blues Online Store.
Key duties will involve the selling of both merchandise and tickets, making sure that the store meets sales targets, dealing with takings, working closely with the retail team, internal departments, external suppliers and delivery companies; planning the delivery and dispatch of goods, monitoring and setting aside storage space, tracking stock levels and making sure stock is stored correctly and safely. Where required you should maintain accurate records of all stock movements and manage the RSS stock file in a methodical and meticulous manner. You will also be required to assist with the effective picking, packing and dispatching of mail orders. Apart from these specific tasks, you will be expected to continually look for ways to increase sales and improve efficiency and will be expected to fulfil the role of the Retail Manager in their absence.
SCOPE OF DUTIES:To assist the Retail Manager in the following:

Driving Sales

Maximising sales and hitting sales targetsTo plan and implement daily replenishment of the sales-floor, ensuring that all products are available at all times, correctly priced and ticketedTo ensure that the Sales-floor remains clean, tidy, and controlledTo educate the retail staff on new products, product information in order to pass on all information to the customerCustomer Service

To ensure that the highest levels of customer service are provided to our customers at all timesTo monitor the customer service provided by the retail staffTo train and regularly re-train the retail staff on expected levels of Customer Service
Stock Control

Plan out all stock management resources and activities in keeping with the company’s objectives and targetsEnsure that all the health and safety requirements are met and also has to take responsibility for the security of the building and stockManage perpetual inventory reports and their executionIdentify aged or distressed stock and facilitate their distribution in agreement with the Head of RetailSuggest measures of improvement and development of the stock managementMonitor stock levels of consumable items to include carrier bags, packaging and barcodesControlling Costs

To assist the Retail Manager to effectively schedule staff, taking into account work-load and financial viability, and to assist in the accurate completion of time sheetsTo adhere to the weekly/monthly/annual budgets on payroll, consumable supplies. cash shortages, stock-loss, post and package costs, cost of sales and all other controllable lines of the profit and lossTo ensure that all damaged/returned merchandise is handled in accordance with BCFC proceduresBuilding Effective Teams

To assist the Retail Manager in overseeing all members of the retail staff including:Staff scheduling and task delegationTraining, coaching and developmentTo improve the in-store customer experience; setting customer service objectives and standardsTeam motivationGeneral day-to-day staff management in the absence of the Retail Manager.Stock Control Administration

Liaise with suppliers to arrange the best possible time for deliveries, based on work load and stock urgency.Communicate effectively with the Head of Retail to ensure that he is fully aware of all expected deliveries.Effectively manage the movement of all stock on the RSS system. This includes:Movement between different retail locationsAn effective system of monitoring and accounting for faulty or retuned stock. Faulty stock should be returned to suppliers for credit on a regular basis.Effective monitoring and recording of any stock leaving the store that is not classed as a retail sale. This includes stock signed off by the department heads and stock invoiced to other departments.Mail Order

Oversee and monitor the growing internet/mail order operation and maximizing sales through this channelThe accurate pick, pack and despatch of all mail orders, ensuring that the timelines and standards set out in the retail terms and conditions of order are met at all times.Ensure that the Club retail software system is used correctly to maximise efficiency for both the Club and customerGeneral Retail Duties

This will involve working before and after store opens and closes until required daily tasks are completed.Presence at home matches days/nights.Any additional hours subject to the needs of the business.Overtime shall only be paid with the prior permission of the Head of Ticketing & Retail. Overtime shall be payable at your basic rate for hours exceeding your contractual hours.
