Senior Buyer - Capex

A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Buyer to join a market leading manufacturing tier 1 Automotive organisation has become available. The purchasing specialist responsible for the sourcing and supply of Engineering Equipment and Solutions to fulfil engineering project and manufacturing production requirements. Successful candidates will have a background in purchasing within a manufacturing environment and will ideally have working experience in a Capital/ Process equipment.

Role responsibilities of the Technical Buyer:

    To place orders on the Company’s behalf in a professional and contractually sound manner.To obtain best possible value for money from all suppliers.To satisfy Company objectives, project specific requirements and compliance with Group Purchasing initiatives.Develop and maintain long-term working relationships with suppliers, inspiring confidence and trust by professionalism.Ensure that proper contracts are made for the supply of goods and services at the right price, in the right time, at the right place and of the right quality.Represent Purchasing on project teams when nominated by Purchasing Manager. Attend project meetings as a proactive member and draw up Bid Pack Logs in conjunction with relative Project Manager.Be proactive to maximise the proportion of buying carried out within Purchasing.Prior to commitment to a supplier, to ensure that both commercial and any known outstanding technical considerations are satisfactorily resolved, prior to commitment.To safeguard continuity of supply/service by due regard to financial stability of suppliers, both new and established where necessary.To ensure all supplier claims and back-charges are actioned effectively and concluded within 3 months of notification where practicable.To responsibly fulfill the Company’s contractual obligations to suppliers and ensure that they fulfill theirs to us.To fully appraise and regularly report to Purchasing Manager all problems and difficulties, other than day to day routine matters.To ensure that suppliers performance is properly monitored, controlled and reported as necessary.Ensure all necessary authorisations are obtained prior to commitment to supplier.Utilise International Purchasing wherever practicable, comply with current Group Purchasing policy and Group Sourcing Committee obligations.Attend weekly Global Sourcing committee conference calls if requiredTo ensure payment patterns/terms agreed with suppliers are appropriate to the contract and favourable to the Company’s cashflow.To maintain close liaison with accounts about payments to suppliers. Ensure all invoice queries are actioned as early as practicable and that confirmation/amendment orders are issued as necessary.To ensure that orders are processed quickly and accurately to delivery dates compatible with our contract programmes.Execute any other duties as reasonably requested.To obtain written confirmation of new subcontractors CIS tax registration.
