Additive Manufacturing and 3D printing is transforming the way products are designed and made, leading to more efficient cars, planes and boats and other consumer products. It has also had a significant impact on health-care, from implants to dental restoration, leading to improved outcomes for patients.

Renishaw has a vacancy for an Applications Engineer to work in its Additive Manufacturing Products Division based in Stone Staffordshire. The position will suit a motivated person who is equally at home sweating the details of a tough processing problem to working in close cooperation with users to share their process knowledge.

Experience in design, manufacturing, production engineering, or a technical training role will be beneficial.


* Provide advice and support for staff and customers
* Carry out applications development project work to understand the performance envelope of the process
* Attend trade shows & conferences in the UK and overseas
* Develop relationships with key customers in the UK and overseas
* Provide training for key customers in the UK and overseas

Key requirements

* At least 5 years' experience in an industrial, design or manufacturing environment
* A high level of computer literacy, including expertise in standard Microsoft Office software, 3D CAD
* Degree-level qualification in a technical or business discipline
* A full UK/EU driving license
* A full, valid passport

Desirable requirements

* Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
* Project management skills
* Use of file preparation software such as Magics etc.

The successful candidate will be an assured and outgoing person who conveys and instills confidence. They will have the ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and work under pressure. They will be self-motivated and able to keep a focus on strategic requirements as well as having good accuracy and attention to detail. They will be a strong team player, with superior communication skills as well as being resourceful, willing to learn new skills, and able to offer creative new ideas when facing issues, challenges and opportunities.
