Power Electronics Hardware Engineer - Gaydon, Warwickshire - £30k-£40k

You will act as Power Electronics Hardware Component Senior Engineer and will be responsible for the delivery of multiple power electronics commodities. The successful candidate will also be stakeholder in related features not owned directly by Power Electronics Group.
You shall be responsible for delivering specific Power Electronics commodities from Kick-Off to final implementation phase. This is a high visibility role requiring the candidate to cascade and agree requirements with a wide range of stakeholders from around the business. Good interpersonal skills, time management and planning are essential in this role. The successful candidate will report to the Design and Release Power Electronics Group Leader and will support all programme delivery processes.

  • Contribute to the delivery of the component and software being developed to meet the business requirements on time with appropriate quality and at the right cost
  • Contribute to the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements to support the Cycle Plan programmes and Cycle Plan studies, using Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS) principles in conjunction with other company processes as required
  • Component Ownership for Power Electronics supporting cost events, RFQs and RFIs
  • Manage, cascade and agree requirements with sub-system and component owners
  • Manage and support all Quality workstreams including DFMEAs, PPIRs, PSWs
  • Coordinate and control S, T, P component releases, support vehicle programme builds
  • Development of associated DVM’s, DVP’s, PV testing
  • Resolve CAD/CAE compatibility issues between sub-system and component owners
  • Interface definition and including network release
  • Timing plans for development and validation
  • Knowledge of TCDS and PCDS development process
  • Component delivery under PCDS
  • Capable to lead design reviews, EMC testing, HILST testing, supplier commodity planning
  • Good knowledge on component releasing process using release tracking and PLM systems
  • Root cause analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D etc)
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and good business acumen
  • Confident, highly motivated, capable of priortising workload and motivating others
  • Degree qualified (engineering, science or mathematics preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project
  • Capable using CAN tools such as CANape, CANoe, CANalyser, INCA

  • Background in HEVs, PHEVs and BEV vehicle configurations
  • Background within engineering or programme planning departments
  • Background in Power Electronics and Hardware Development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
