I am currently after Regional H&S Group Managers for various locations across England. These include: Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Guildford and Bedford. The positions will report under the Operational Delivery part of the business and be responsible for the day to day running of the road network. The position will be a mixture of both office based and site based work. These are fantastic opportunities to be part of a team dedicated to changing safety culture and ensuring everyone who uses and works on our road network gets home safely.


Ensure the provision of competent advice to senior managers, employees and Trade Unions regarding all health and safety matters.

Plan and manage resources effectively and lead a team that provides a 'best in class' service to the company.

Monitor the performance of and provide coaching and support to team members to deliver health and safety programmes and initiatives.

Translate strategic requirements and understand the wider political landscape to develop the service provided by H&S Managers.

Use data and feedback on the effectiveness of policy, systems and processes to improve performance and inform strategy and decision-making.

Monitor the efficiency of incident investigations.

Contribute to shaping the supply chain engagement strategy.

Prepare reports and present papers where required.

Contribute to the development of the Directorates assurance plans, risk profiles, reports, engagement plans etc.

Supporting the delivery of objectives to agreed timescales

Developing capacity, capability, expertise and professionalism of the management team.

Proactive and preventive action in response to risk management failure

Building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, influence across boundaries

Delivering health and safety services that are integrated and a full part of programme/project delivery

Planning and management of resources effectively and lead a team that provides a 'best in class' service.

Providing coaching and support to the delivery teams

Use data and feedback to support evidence


Candidates will have the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and ideally be a member of IOSH or equivalent

Prior management / leadership experience in leading dispersed teams

Leading collaborative interactions to plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety issues and risks

Demonstrable experience aligning health and safety strategy and services with business strategy and needs

Developing workplace practices so they remain safe and compliant with legislation

Project management and consulting experience

Demonstrable experience in managing and assuring health and safety in design or construction, preferably working for a major infrastructure asset owner or developer.
